About the Entrepreneur
Gregory Lake was an entrepreneur with a baby problem – his baby cried a lot. Like many new parents, Gregory wanted to stem the tide of tears and, when none of his own remedies seemed to work, he asked his Mom what to do. She recommended dipping the baby’s pacifier in milk or honey to quiet the baby just like she had done when he was an infant. Out of this idea, Clever Kid was born. Clever Kid pacifiers allow babies to experience (and prepare for) a world of interesting and soothing flavors.
Gregory took this old home remedy that worked for his daughter and decided to add some modern ideas to his pacifier by introducing the baby to new food flavors using the pacifier. He tried flavors like peas and other fruits and vegetables and found when the actual foods were introduced his daughter “was tearing ’em up.” Gregory believes this was because the baby was already acquainted with the foods through his novel pacifier. Now that his daughter is older, she is eating lots of vegetables and making healthy food choices. Gregory believes the habits formed during infancy are making a big difference now. And new flavors “open up a baby’s mind” to the world in a very positive and beneficial way.
Gregory already had experience as an entrepreneur; however, perfecting his product and bringing it to market really proved challenging. He tried more than one vendor before coming to IdeaPros. One company provided him with a list of things he had to do and no assistance whatsoever in doing the things on the list. Gregory stated you would have to be a lawyer just to read all the pages and pages of documents they provided. Another vendor was so notorious for ripping people off, the government shut the company down! Gregory even managed to have a consultation with Daymond John of Shark Tank. Due to the monetary caps on Shark Tank funding, Daymond recommended that Gregory take a different approach and try to get the product out there himself.
At this point, Gregory has decided to partner with IdeaPros. In spite of his prior bad experiences, “I believe they are going to do right by me.” So far, he can see that IdeaPros is “getting stuff moving forward.” He feels the partnership model is more favorable to the creator, “I get paid and then I pay them.” Gregory is very optimistic about his product and its potential for great financial success. Scientific studies have shown that introducing babies to a variety of sensations can accelerate development. We believe Clever Kid pacifiers will help babies in many ways through the early introduction of nutritious, natural flavors.
